BetSafe Poker Summary
BetSafe Poker is the poker portion of BetSafe.com. It is a member of the MPN Poker Network, which currently sits at #6 on PokerScout’s list of Poker Site Player Traffic. This means that the player pool on BetSafe Poker is pretty large, peaking at about 1750 players daily. The BetSafe.com site features casino games and sports wagering in addition to poker, so you don’t have to go anywhere else to get your gambling fix.
BetSafe poker’s site has been around for ten years, so they have a good bonus structure, easy VIP scheme, and great game selection and customer support. From our research, it appears that the skill level of players on BetSafe is below average. We think that players with a solid level of skill should do fairly well here. Now let’s get into a little more detail about BetSafe Poker:
- Good, reliable software
- Simple and effective VIP scheme
- No 3rd party apps
- No instant bonus
When you join BetSafe Poker, you get three different welcome offers at once! First, you need to decide which welcome bonus you want to play to earn. Bonus choices are €25, €75, €250, €500, or €1,000. To earn this bonus, you have thirty days to activate your it; then you must earn the required amount of points from rake within sixty days to earn the bonus amount chosen. For most average players, the €250 bonus is achievable. If you play often enough, at decent buy-ins, there’s no reason you can’t earn the €1,000 bonus within the time limit.
The second welcome offer newcomers receive from BetSafe Poker is an automatic entry into two freeroll tournaments every Wednesday. New players can compete for the €1,000 and €888 guaranteed prizes, and are allowed to play in these tournaments for six weeks! That’s 12 free tournaments at no cost to you, where you can win substantial prize money. Worth investigating if you’re trying a Bankroll Challenge.
The last promotion BetSafe offers newcomers is called The 10-day New Player Poker Challenge. For this promotion, players must complete a different challenge each day, for ten days straight. This can earn cash, free spins, tickets, and badges to be used on the BetSafe.com website. Some of the challenges listed for this promotion are difficult to achieve, so we’re not sure if this promotion is worth the effort. It seems like an easy way to spend lots of money in a short amount of time, achieving only a little reward.
Games and Features
When it comes to game selection, BetSafe Poker is above average. In addition to the usual Texas Hold’em and Omaha, this site offers Seven Card Stud, Omaha Hi/Lo, Razz, 5 Card Stud, and 5 Card Draw. In addition to this extensive game selection, they offer their version of speed poker and games with short seating that feature 3-5 players per table.
If you’re looking for casino games or sports wagering, they are readily available on this full-service gambling platform, allowing you to earn VIP points by wagering anywhere on the BetSafe site. The average number of players on BetSafe Poker at any given time is around 900, and peaks at around 1750. This is a very large player pool, so you should be able to find the game and limit that you’re looking for whenever.
Software and Applications
BetSafe’s Poker software isn’t going to blow you away, but it’s clean and operates smoothly. One unique feature here is the ability to change your name every 30 days, or even sooner if you play frequently. This helps to promote anonymity whilst taking away any advantage you might gain by taking any player notes.
Downloads are available for Windows and Mac, or you can play Via Web using Flash. BetSafe seems focused on mobile and offers apps for iOS devices and Android alike. For those of you who like to multi-table, you can play up to twelve tables at once, but you better be prepared. Automation features on BetSafe are extremely limited, so you’re pretty much on your own. The focus on BetSafe seems to be to keep the games fair.
Allowed Third Party Poker Add-ons
BetSafe does not allow any third party add-ons for use with their poker software. As we all know, this doesn’t necessarily mean that they won’t work, but all of the research into BetSafe indicated that none of the popular Add-ons work with this software. This is consistent with BetSafe’s focus on fair play for everyone, which can be difficult sometimes with online poker.
Promotions and VIP Scheme
When it comes to promotions, BetSafe has plenty of action to keep you playing all month long! The Free Cash Drop randomly deposits €5 into players’ accounts every five minutes for a grand total of €30,000 a month. Top player points earners can receive a buy-in to live tournament events. For example, you can earn €20 in the Fish Party Sit n’ Go, you can play in to the Battle of Malta live event with satellite qualifiers, and get your share of 10,000 in Sit ‘n Go and 30,000 in Freeroll tournament prize money each and every month! BetSafe has plenty of promotions that everyone will enjoy.
All new players are also automatically enrolled in BetSafe’s VIP program, which they call Blackgold Rewards. The VIP Blackgold Rewards program is pretty straightforward. Players earn loyalty points from rake paid playing cash games across all BetSafe gambling platforms. As your points total increases, your VIP level goes up. Here’s how it works:
Cash Rewards are $1 for every loyalty point earned. This VIP scheme is simple and encourages players to try to level up to get higher percentages of cashback each month.
Customer Service and Support
Customer Service is one area where BetSafe Poker shines. Customers with problems can access help 24/7 by using the phone, live chat, and email, or you can go on the BetSafe forum or FAQ sections to see if your questions are answered there. There is also a handy poker rules area and a quick link to see what your loyalty point total is.
BetSafe was founded in 2006 and is owned by the BML Group, Ltd. Company headquarters are in Malta, and the website is licensed by the Malta Gaming Authority. The BML Group also owns the other members of the MPN Network, including NordicBet, 32RedPoker, and PokerLoco. The parent company of BML Group, Ltd. is Betsson AB, a Swedish company founded in 1963 which started out supplying slot machines to restaurants in Sweden.
Famous Betsafe Ambassadors
BetSafe’s Poker Ambassador is Felix Stephensen. Felix is a Norwegian Poker Professional with a very successful resume. He has amassed career winnings of over $5,600,000 already, and he’s only 26 years old! The highlight of Felix’s poker career was in 2014 when he finished runner-up at the World Series of Poker Main Event. Felix is a natural fit as BetSafe Poker is a site that caters primarily to Scandinavian poker players.
Betsafe Review Conclusion
- VIP Scheme is simple and effective
- Customer support is great
- Plenty of players, many of whom are fish
We weren’t so sure about:
- 10 Day challenge is very expensive for those just starting out
- Software does very little to distinguish from other MGN platforms
When you compare it to many other poker sites, BetSafe Poker is better than most. The software is compatible with everything, and while it’s not impressive, it functions well and looks clean. Unlike most other sites, when you join BetSafe, the bonus amounts are actually achievable if you pick a reasonable amount to suit your playing style. Promotions are too many to list, and the VIP scheme is very good, so you’ll want to keep playing poker on BetSafe every chance you get.
A downside we found on BetSafe is the 10-day New Player Challenge, which seems like a ton of rake to give up in your first week on this site. Other than that, BetSafe is definitely a solid choice for most players, with a great table selection and weak competition. We hope you have enjoyed reading our BetSafe Poker Review for 2016, and we wish you the best of luck at the tables!
