Unibet Poker Summary
Poker is a game of skill and chance. Ideally, you’re allotted a healthy dose of both. In any event, give this Unibet Poker Review a good read to find out if this site is right for you.
If you’re ready to play online poker, you cannot pick a better place to get involved with. This is because Unibet is a safe bet. Pun intended. Unibet is so serious about providing an above board experience that they’ve hired on Price Waterhouse Coopers to manage their auditing. We perceive this as a sure sign of Unibet’s commitment to fair play. Bravo Unibet!
They key point to take away from this review, is that Unibet is actively targeting casual players and trying to inject the fun back into poker. Hence, the lack of HUDs and table selection is for a very good reason.
Sign up bonuses are all the rage today, and Unibet brings a nice one to new players to the site. A generous welcome bonus of €200 is yours once you make hit various rake limits. It’s a simple concept really. Earn more by playing more. Here is the rake scheme that shows you what percentage of the €200 you will receive based on rake:
|Level||Rake||Cash Reward||Reward %|
The strong VIP program at Unibet is another feature that is nearly impossible to beat! Instead of a rake-based VIP program where bonuses are awarded based on the percentage rake you’ve taken, Unibet offers these challenges which when achieved pay off in cash rewards.
Games and Features
Unibet offers Texas Hold’em and Omaha poker variations to its customers. These can be played as Sit and Go’s, Multitable tournaments, and cash games, of course. With a peak of 1300 visitors a day you’ll have plenty of options to join in to play, without finding yourself crowded out of a seat.
Competition on the site is relatively soft. Newbies will find a place to play that is safe and without so much hard competition that they are running for a place to hide!
Cash games start with cheap blinds of €0.02/€0.04 and tournaments start at the small entry fee of €1, increasing to a €100 buy-in.
You’ll also find tons of sports betting, casino, and bingo available for you to get involved with if you need a change. But this is a poker review, after all, so we’ll continue.
Software and Applications
Some may be turned off by the cartoonlike graphics, but we thought this was a fun touch. One can still be serious and have fun simultaneously after all. One small drawback in the software is the limit to only Hold’em and Omaha poker. Variety is the spice of life! But we’ll overlook this for what is overall a decent site, with software that is from 2015 and not 2005!
What’s really fun is the ability to change your identity up to three times per day. With this feature, you don’t have to worry about being marked for a false bluff for example.
Mac owners will be glad to hear that they have unique software for them as well, and not just for Windows. One feature that we did find limiting is the lack of apps for poker on mobile phones. Unibet does not directly support either Android or iPhone for mobile play. Indirectly, you can play on their internet browser version, but this isn’t ideal. This is an area that could stand to be improved. However, iOS and Android apps are available for tablets.
Allowed Third Party Poker Add-ons
With such a beginner user-centered poker site, it’s no surprise that Unibet doesn’t support any external software that could improve your chances at a poker table, HUDs and tracking software included in this.
Promotions and VIP Scheme
Unibet runs a healthy alternative to the traditional rake-based VIP schemes found on most online gaming sites. Instead, you will find challenges released on Unibet each month. You’ll find games with a limited amount of hands, play for a pot that is won by a particular number of hands, or with a unique hand for example. These challenges are made to sharpen your skills and provide you with well-earned prizes like tournament entries or cash game tickets.
At the higher end of the loyalty scheme, you will receive a €2k Unibet Open package, on top of cash and bonuses. This is pretty standard in the industry, but it’s still a pleasant incentive to keep playing on their network.
Customer Service and Support
While not open 24 x 7, the 9 to 9 pm hours are reasonable for most issues that might arise. Also, you can live chat and email at any time.
There is also an outstanding FAQ section for when you need a bit of help with rules and regulations on Unibet.
Unibet is another great company. Started in 1999 on the 24hPoker network, the company switched to Microgaming in 2006 and then went out on its own in 2014. Headquartered and licensed in Malta Unibet is a thriving company, undoubtedly due to its attention to customer service and detail in gameplay.
To display the company’s dedication to security and to keep themselves honest they’ve hired on Price Waterhouse Coopers as an independent auditor. Their name alone engenders trust! This is a great plus for this company.
Famous Unibet Ambassadors
While there aren’t any Unibet ambassadors for poker, they do have Sam Grafton and Charlotte van Brabander on their Twitch Stream. They are also known to run one-off events with the likes of Viktor Blom and other famous members of the eSports community.
Unibet Review Conclusion
- Awards/ Challenges are a great alternative to VIP scheme
- Audited by PwC
- Well designed software
- Extremely user and beginner friendly
- Decent VIP System
We weren’t so sure about:
- No third party software allowed
Unibet is a top of the shelf competitor. At the top of our list of reasons for liking the company is their commitment to their honesty. As we’ve mentioned putting Price Waterhouse Coopers on your books takes some real confidence in your business. We commend Unibet for taking this stance. We also like the playful graphics and quality customer service.
On the downside of the ledger, it’s hard to ignore the lack of ability to easily play poker from an Android or iPhone. Hopefully, this is something that Unibet will be addressing in the near future.
On balance this poker business has a safe and honest gaming style that far outweighs the negatives. This is a trusted company that will provide you with a fun poker playing experience.
